What tickets do you have on your frig for May?

Ok, May is a good month for shows!  I just saw the Freelance Whales open for the Shout Out Louds at the 9:30 Club on Sunday.  It was a great show.  Awesome opening act and a great set by the Shout Out Louds.  And I got some great photos too!   But there are many more shows to come this month!

Ok Go is playing the 9:30 Club tomorrow, the 5th, but it is already sold out!

Minus the Bear is playing the 9:30 Club on Friday, the 7th.  I saw them at SXSW and really enjoyed the show.

On Saturday, the 8th, Emmet Swimming is playing Iota.  Emmet Swimming doesn't play many gigs anymore, so see this show!  Todd is a great guy and has an awesome voice.

On Tuesday, the 11th, The Moog is playing the Red and Black on H Street.  These guys from Budapest can play!  If you haven't heard them yet, check out "I like you."

On Friday, the 14th, Deer Tick is opening up for Dr. Dog at the 9:30 Club (Sold Out already).  I was able to catch both at SXSW this year.  Dr. Dog had a fanatical fan base and put on an awesome show at the Filter day party.  And Deer Tick had a great set at the Lucero Family Picnic.

The very next day, Saturday the 15th, Everybody Was In The French Resistance…Now! (comprised of Eddie Argos from Art Brut and Dyan Valdés from The Blood Arm) is playing at DC9. He does have that talky singing style, but I like them... Catch them now, cause I am betting you will not see them at such a small intimate venue ever again. Check them out on youtube G.I.R.L.F.R.E.N.

Last Train Home is playing Iota on Friday and Saturday the 21st and 22nd. Great band and Eric is a wonderful guy. They always put on an entertaining show and Iota is like coming home for for these guys. Don't miss this show.

And the Wrens are playing Sonar up in Baltimore on Saturday the 22nd also. Bonus that The Postelles (saw them at SXSW) are the opening act! Make the most of the weekend and go see LTH on Friday and then head up to Baltimore to see the Wrens on Saturday.

Free Energy is coming back to town on Sunday the 30th to play the Rock and Roll Hotel. Big step up from them playing the DC9 last time they were here. I loved them so much I use a slot at SXSW to catch them again. If you haven't heard them yet listen to "Bang Pop" and "Something in Common."

And just leave your car parked cause you should come back to the Rock and Roll Hotel on Monday, the 31st, to catch Holy Fuck. Again, I had the chance to catch them at SXSW and even freezing my rear end off I stayed for the whole set. How nice will it be to catch them inside a nice warm (probably sweaty hot actually) Rock and Roll Hotel, huh? Great way to end the month! Listen to "Korock" or "The Pulse."

Just a heads up, Albert Cross and The National will be in town that first week of June.
